As we travel though our early years, we come to realise that behaving in certain ways brings results. Not surprisingly we tend to adopt certain characteristics as a way of operating in the outside world. The Ascendant represents our suit of armour; our chosen and learned way of dealing with unfamiliar and unpredictable situations. The Ascendant is the mask which allows us to interact with the world. This is not to say that the characteristics of our Ascending sign are false. Far from it, the Ascendant is an integral part of our personality. We have learned to use its traits because we learned that they were effective. We are all heroes on our unique journey. The Ascendant sets the hero the task of facing the challenges and learning the lessons of that particular Ascending sign. We must hack away at a lot of debris before we can see the light of day and reach for our goal. |
